The Virgin and the trickster merge into a single body. The processional mantle and the embroidered veil coexist with the card trick, in a tension between devotion and play, between sanctity and mischief.

There is no irony, there is revelation: both women—the one from the church and the one from the brothel, the one from the altar and the one from the trick—share the same face, the same suspicion in their gaze.
