Fighters No. 4

This scene doesn't scream or cry ; it simply exists. And in that stillness lies its strength. They are companions, brothers perhaps, or simply strangers who became family out of necessity. One reads, another embraces, the rest wait. There is no fear on their faces. Only humanity. They are combatants with names we will never know, but with gestures that recognize us . Painting them is also giving them a place in memory as complete people: with their fatigue, their joy, their faith, their rage, and their tenderness.
