One is barely a child. He wears glasses and holds a gun larger than his hands. At his sides are two weather-beaten men, their faces marked by cold or experience. They are no longer civilians .

The drawing, executed with a loose, brutal stroke, doesn't idealize. It doesn't embellish. It's a stark portrait of what remains when survival dictates . There's no narrative background, only trees. There's no scenery, only shadow. And in that absence, everything takes on greater power.
