Me and my rifle!

She's young. She wears a uniform, a cartridge belt, and a rifle almost as tall as she is. She could have been a teacher, a nurse, a seamstress... but fate placed her here: in the midst of combat, in the midst of history , with a clear face and an uncertain future.

Her face dissolves into the paint, as if time refuses to remember her clearly. And yet, there's something in her gaze—however diffuse—that resists , that insists on being seen.
